School Review 2009-2010
Achievements and performance
Trio World School has continued to deliver a very high standard of education with an extraordinary array of subjects and activities tailored to the students interests, allied with a very high level of pastoral care and sports and musical opportunities.
Academic
In public examinations, all IGCSEs taken were awarded with high grades. Last year’s figures were a record; the results from this year are expected to be better still. An increasing number of Indian parents are opting for the British IGCSE, a stimulating and demanding exam.  In the light of this, the continued upward trend in performance at IGCSE by new students to the system is all the more impressive.

All A levels taken were awarded also with high grades. This represents a similar performance to last year.

Almost all children from Trio World School continue to go on to university. All students holding grade-dependent offers from universities were able to take up their places. The schools focus remains on the most competitive courses at the most prestigious universities.

Of the young people leaving Trio World School, all received offers of places from Universities. The number of children going on to university in Europe remains fairly constant.

At a time when Indian national public examination syllabuses are more restrictive and limited in scope, the thriving tradition of taking part in academic competitions becomes increasingly important.   TWS students enter voluntarily for a variety of challenging awards in classics, languages, the sciences and nearly all other subjects, as well as music, art, drama and declamation, judged by external assessors. As occurs so often, traditional elements in Trio World School’s approach find meaning in contemporary life and because of this our students are regularly successful.

Students are also encouraged to enter competitions on a national stage.   Between them, a number of Trio World Schoolians won, or were runners up, or were commended, in the Senior and Intermediate & Mathematical Challenges, as well as the national schools chess competitions.

A number of curriculum changes have been made. From 2008, students followed a revised Canadian route in which one feature was a reduction in the number of examination modules taken. The school is now running (from August 2010) a completely inclusive British curricular. Senior students are also benefiting from taking both nationally and internationally recognised examinations including modern languages and music from Cambridge.
Religion
Trio World School (TWS) is truly an international school and has Anglicans, Protestants, Agnostics, Catholics, Jewish, Atheists, Muslim, and Hindu families.  While there is no specifically taught singular Religious Education at the school, TWS fosters the concept of fair play, freedom of choice and respect for all individuals.  This is regardless of Gender, Politics, Wealth, Nationality, Age, Skin Colour, Body Shape, Ability, Sexual Orientation or Religious Affiliation. The school defines fair play as a way of behaving that develops from self-respect and entails: honesty, straightforwardness, and a firm and dignified attitude even when others do not play fairly; respect for all including opponents, respect whether we are winning or losing, respect stemming from an awareness that we are bound to value each other and celebrate diversity.
Sport
The school provides a wide choice of games. The main sports are basketball; swimming and soccer, there are also field games along with hockey and athletics, cricket and table-tennis. Trio World School’s cricketers enjoyed one of the most successful years in the school’s history.   Whether representing the school or their houses the school intends to provide sport for students at all levels and abilities.
Exchange Visits and Tours
The importance of travel cannot be underestimated.  TWS believes that students’ horizons are substantially widened by offering the opportunity to travel internally within India and overseas as often as possible.  To this end there are continued plans for TWS students to visit in groups England, Greece and Italy.
Music, Drama and other activities
Drama continues to flourish, with some six productions during the year including School Plays, house plays, drama competitions and several plays produced as well as acted by students.

Music, equally, is pursued by students to very high standards in a large number of performances and services by the school bands, groups, orchestras and choirs.  The climax of the first term has been the School Christmas Concert.

Another well established part of school life is the expectation that students should organise and administer societies covering a variety of interests, and that they should be responsible for inviting guest speakers. Students themselves delivered addresses on subjects such as the philosophy, and popular culture.

In normal years, the school remains alive with young people in the summer holidays.   It was a sharp disappointment that summer school had to be cancelled this year because of renovations.   The usual programme will be resumed next year in 2011.

It is good to see Trio World Schoolians connecting with people beyond their immediate experience, be it through the social services programme, or actively raising funds for charities, whether organised by Trio World School or by individual effort.

Aided by a body of exceptional teachers, lead by a I highly dedicated Headmaster and outstanding administration team, Trio World School creates a culture which values excellence and independence and which sees virtue in taking positive developmental action. The flourishing of activity this year has amply demonstrated this approach to life – Trio World School is truly International!
