The Global Citizen Program at Trio World School was created to give students a space to explore important areas of learning that go beyond the examination curriculum.

Alongside their ICSE and ISC studies, students are introduced to entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, design thinking, sustainability, leadership and real-world problem-solving through discussions, projects, workshops and practical experiences.

There are no examinations attached to the programme. The focus is on exposure, participation and giving students opportunities to think, question, create and work with ideas that are increasingly relevant to the world around them.

For TRIO, this programme is an important part of preparing students not only for their next examination, but also for the choices, challenges and opportunities they will encounter beyond school.

What Students Explore

Artificial Intelligence & Design Thinking

Artificial intelligence is becoming part of the way people learn, work and solve problems.

Through the Global Citizen Program, students are introduced to AI and emerging technologies while also discussing questions around responsible and ethical use, privacy, bias and human decision-making.

Design thinking gives students a practical process for approaching problems. They learn to understand a need, explore possible solutions, develop ideas, test them and make improvements.

Workshops, projects and interactions with professionals give students opportunities to use technology and design thinking in practical contexts rather than learning about them only in theory.

This area complements TRIO's wider STEM Programme while focusing particularly on how technology can be used thoughtfully to address real-world problems.

Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is introduced as a way of thinking, not simply as the process of starting a business.

Students explore how an idea develops from identifying a need to finding a possible solution. Activities introduce concepts such as ideation, planning, basic financial literacy, teamwork, presentation and pitching.

Through practical projects, fundraising initiatives, idea presentations and interactions with entrepreneurs and professionals, students gain an understanding of the decisions and responsibilities involved in taking an idea forward.

They also learn that entrepreneurship can involve solving social and environmental problems, not only creating commercial ventures.

Leadership Through Experience

Leadership runs across the Global Citizen Program rather than being taught as a separate theory.

Students are given opportunities to express ideas, work in teams, take responsibility, make decisions and present their thinking to others.

Projects and collaborative activities allow them to experience that leadership can involve listening, organising, taking initiative, solving problems and being accountable for the decisions they make.

These experiences connect naturally with TRIO's core value of Leadership.

Learning by Doing

A key part of the programme is experiential learning.

Depending on the topic and age group, students may take part in:

Connecting Ideas Across Subjects

Many of the issues students encounter do not belong to one subject alone.

A sustainability project may involve science, economics and social responsibility. An entrepreneurial idea may require mathematics, communication and design. An AI discussion may involve technology as well as questions of ethics and human judgement.

The Global Citizen Program gives students opportunities to make these connections and see how knowledge from different areas can be applied to a common problem.

A Different Kind of Learning

Not every important learning experience needs to end with an examination.

The Global Citizen Program gives students room to explore unfamiliar ideas, ask questions, experiment with solutions and learn through the process.

By providing early exposure to AI, design thinking, entrepreneurship, sustainability and leadership, TRIO aims to help students become more aware of the changing world around them and more confident in approaching new situations with curiosity, responsibility and initiative.
