The arts are an active part of school life at Trio World School. Students have opportunities to explore music, dance, theatre and visual art through regular classes, school activities and performances.
The focus is on participation and learning through practice. As students sing, play an instrument, perform, dance or create artwork, they become more comfortable expressing their ideas and working with others.
Students are introduced to both Indian and Western music, with opportunities to develop their understanding of melody, rhythm and performance.
Music learning includes vocal practice as well as instruments such as keyboard, guitar and tabla. Students explore Indian classical and Western music along with folk, patriotic, devotional and other forms of music appropriate to their age and level.
Regular practice helps students listen carefully, understand rhythm and pitch, and gradually build confidence in individual and group performances.
Dance at TRIO introduces students to different styles of movement, rhythm and expression.
Students experience classical, folk and Western dance forms, with activities planned according to their age and ability. Alongside learning steps and routines, students are introduced to the cultural background and traditions connected with different dance forms.
Dance also becomes part of school celebrations, Class Days and larger performances, giving students opportunities to perform individually and as part of a group.
Zumba and movement-based activities provide students with an enjoyable way to stay active through music and rhythm. Sessions are adapted for different age groups and focus on participation, coordination and movement in a relaxed setting.
Theatre gives students another way to engage with stories, characters and ideas.
Drama is incorporated into literature and classroom learning through role play and enactments. Students also participate in Class Days, Annual Day productions and school plays, where they experience different aspects of preparing and presenting a performance.
For major productions, students may also work with theatre professionals, giving them exposure to stagecraft, rehearsal and performance in a larger setting.
Theatre encourages students to communicate clearly, work as a team and become more comfortable presenting themselves before an audience.
Art gives students time and space to observe, imagine and create.
Through drawing, painting, craft and other hands-on activities, students work with different materials, techniques and ideas. Activities are planned to allow for individual expression as well as collaborative work.
Student artwork is also shared through displays, exhibitions and group projects, giving children an opportunity to present their work and appreciate the creativity of their peers.
The arts at TRIO extend beyond regular lessons. Students have opportunities to participate in school events, performances, exhibitions, Class Days and annual productions throughout the academic year.
Some students discover an area they would like to pursue further, while others simply enjoy the experience of participating and trying something new. Both are an important part of the school experience.
At TRIO, the aim is to give students regular opportunities to create, perform and express themselves alongside their academic learning.
